There’s so much pressure these days to keep up with our physical self. Everywhere we look there are billboards for exercise and weight loss products, beauty items and cosmetic procedures, and just about anything you can think of for ‘a more beautiful and awesome you’.
People are obsessed with living longer and staying youthful and outwardly beautiful. But what does the Bible say about true beauty?
1. 1 Peter 3:3-4
“And let not your adornment be merely external– braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.”
Don’t worry about what you look like on the outside. We all age, and physical death eventually comes to all, but have a gentle and quiet spirit, and instead of flashing your fashion, flash your smile.
2. Genesis 1:31
“And God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good.”
God loves you just the way you are. He made you beautifully. He didn’t make any mistakes. He has a purpose for you and that purpose is included in the way you look. God made someone just for you who will love everything about you, including the way you look naturally. He knew what He was doing.
3. Proverbs 31:30
“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
This isn’t just for women, but men too. Don’t worry about being charming and don’t focus on being beautiful, instead; Focus on pleasing The Lord and the inward beauty you possess.
4. Genesis 1:27
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
Best part: YOU are made in GOD’s image! He made you like Him! There’s nothing you need to do to enhance yourself…you have the ultimate upgrade embedded in your DNA! How awesome is that?
Don’t worry about what others say about you, don’t even worry about what you think about yourself. God is interested in your heart. Let God be your audience of one. He is completely enthralled with you and loves you completely. So come as you are, lay it down at His feet and see how beautiful your life will be.
